However, I discovered they dont stock parts for machines older than 10 years, and their service would be better for newer machines. Link-Belt seems to discontinue a lot of parts, but the guys in Gray have been helpful and used the resources they have available. If something is not available, they usually point me in the right direction. Adam is the main service guy I talk to, and he is top-notch, along with the whole service team. On the mechanical side, I mostly deal with Sam and Hunter, and they are very helpful.

This was my first time using Heavy Machines. I called and asked how much it would be for someone to come take a look at my loader. The guy I spoke with about billing said it was going to be $510.00 round trip to come out. The technician charges are $180.00 per hour. So, I said go ahead and let's get her done. The technician took about an hour to fix the wiring that a rodent chewed up. No parts were needed, thank goodness. I would say about an hour for him to get his stuff out, put it back up, and diagnose and fix the issue. The guy I was speaking about billing with gives me a call and says "I have good news for you. We are not charging you for the return trip because the technician received an emergency call right as he was leaving your site." I am thinking "Well that is a nice break." He told me I owed them $1,460.00. There was a charge of $200.00 per hour to use their trucks to come to you. I was not told about this charge.
I called CAT and it turns out they do it for $450.00 with a service charge of $160.00 with no hidden fees.
The technician that did come out was wonderful. He was friendly, and responsible, and found the problem quickly. He got my machine fixed and he was just a lovely person.
When I went to go ahead and pay the bill using a card over the telephone they informed me that it was a $3.50 charge per $100.00. I ended up telling them to just mail me a bill and I would send them a check.
I would still recommend them though because the technician did such a great job and I would warn whoever I recommend to ask about the extra costs.

Heavy Machines came out and looked at my machine. The technician stated that a valve needed reset. The valve is located in a tough spot within the machine. He told me if he were to fix it, they would void my warranty. I ended up having to take it to another shop and it was fixed very easily. I should not have had to take it somewhere else when the machine only has 60 hours on it. Threatening to void a warranty on this type of equipment is detrimental. There's also a lever close to the door that always snags my clothes and it's very bothersome.

I can tell you right now I am very unhappy with Heavy Machines. We have an L110 Liebherr material handler and Heavy Machines is our vendor. Sometimes when they come out to do service work, we don't even know it because there is no communication. I believe there is also a lack of communication between the tech and other employees at HMI. I've been in this business for 25+ years. They charge more than what retail is. Then if you take it back, once I found out how much it was, they charged me 25% restocking fee. I will never buy anything from them again. They charged $3600 for a small muffler. $500 for two pieces of tubing that was maybe 3/4 of an inch with a hole drilled in. $900 for a piece of flex pipe. When my mechanic ordered and brought all of it to the shop, I about had heart failure because the bill was something like $7000 for a muffler, and few clamps, and a piece of flex pipe. They're horrible, I'll never work with them again. I never give bad reviews, I really don't, but that was more than what I paid for the actual compactor! I even bought a brand new 2023 Volvo compactor with cabin air and that was just $115000 from another entity and then I bet we've spent 10000 at Heavy Machines for just parts! I'll put it this way, Dynapak is in Germany and I got my friends to get me the parts I needed out of Germany before I used HMI again, they're awful. I understand things have gotten high but not that high.

I bought an ASV forestry mulcher 8 months ago. I've had numerous issues including mechanical and electrical issues since I bought it. It is under warranty and I've had it serviced multiple times. Over the last 8 months, the machine has lost 60% of its value. I'm now in the market for a new ASV 135 forestry mulcher and would like to use the machine I previously purchased as a trade-in but the salesman told me that they won't take the machine I previously purchased as a trade-in because it's had so many issues.

Also, when I bring my machines in to be serviced the technicians will often repair/replace things that aren't necessary so it ends up costing me more money.
